What is pressotherapy?

What is pressotherapy?

Pressotherapy is a modern, effective and painless method of lymphatic drainage with a strong therapeutic effect in the treatment of cellulite and fat deposits in the body.

How does it work?

In Pressotherapy, special applicator sleeves with multiple overlapping chambers provide a gentle massage that promotes the natural circulation of lymph throughout the body. Pressotherapy activates the passive part of the circulatory system - the veins and lymphatic vessels and stimulates the discharge of accumulated toxins to the scavengers. Absorbs swelling and has release and analgesic effects. The pressotherapy stimulates the muscles, eliminates fatigue and aids recovery after exercise and after prolonged bilization. Muscle tone activation reduces fat deposits in the thighs, hips and waist. It is recommended for cellulite, obesity, weight and leg fatigue due to decreased blood flow and swelling of limbs. It provides total relaxation and complete recovery of the body.

What are the advantages?

  • Increase skin tone
  • Reduce cellulite appearance
  • Improving care after liposuction
  • Fight heavy leg syndrome
  • Regenerate and detoxify the body
  • Prevention of varicose veins

How does it work?

The human lymphatic system is responsible for removing interstitial fluid from tissues. It absorbs and transports fatty acids and fats through the bloodstream and transports antigen-presenting cells to the lymph nodes where the immune response is stimulated. Diseases and problems of the lymphatic system usually cause swelling, fat deposits and other symptoms. Lymphatic drainage blocks lymph channels and vessels. This triggers the natural flow of the lymph from the peripheral parts of the body and reduces swelling, pain and cellulite deposition caused by the excess amount of lymph and metabolites in the extremities. In Pressotherapy, special applicator sleeves with multiple overlapping chambers provide a gentle massage that promotes the natural circulation of lymph throughout the body. Contrary to popular belief, fat that is not removed from an area after lipolytic (fat releasing) cellulite treatment is typically reabsorbed by the adipocytes, reducing the effectiveness of the treatment. Since pressotherapy helps prevent this reuptake, it is the ideal companion for all other cellulite treatments as it enhances their effectiveness.

Because all types of cellulite are characterized by water retention (only the severity of water retention varies), you will always experience results with pressotherapy, even as the sole treatment. Only the degree of improvement varies. Of course, if you combine pressotherapy with a lipolytic or skin-firming cellulite treatment, you will always experience great results, regardless of your cellulite type.
In fact, pressotherapy can improve the effectiveness of literally any cellulite treatment by accelerating the transport of fat released by the adipocytes (fat cells) from the cellulite tissues.

Cellulite is partly a problem of poor circulation/water retention and consequent toxin buildup/inflammation, so anything that stimulates blood circulation/lymphatic drainage (and thereby aids in detoxification and reduction of inflammation) can also reduce cellulite.

Different women have different types of cellulite. If your type of cellulite is characterized by excessive water retention/inflammation, you will experience good results very quickly after a course of pressotherapy. Conversely, if your cellulite is characterized by a lot of fat accumulation, lack of firmness of the skin or a lot of fibrosclerosis (hardening of connective tissue), a pressotherapy session will still produce results, but it will need to be combined with vigorous cellulite-specific massage or other high quality cellulite treatment.

Pressotherapy is a body treatment typically used to reduce or eliminate cellulite.

Cellulite consists of tiny pockets of fat located just below the skin's surface, resulting in slight bumps or indentations on the skin, especially on the legs and buttocks in women. The treatment is based on the concept that deep physical stimulation can break down the accumulation of fat pockets under the skin and make the skin look smoother.
Spas or beauty salons are generally the most common places where pressotherapy is offered. The process begins with an electronic cuff attached to a computer and then placed securely around each leg. A trained technician then puts on each electronic cuff, which fills with air and sends light pressure to each leg. The pressure is designed to simulate a deep massage that uses enough pressure to reach below the skin's surface. Each Pressotherapy session usually lasts about 30 minutes and is recommended to be repeated weekly for about eight weeks.
Proponents of Pressotherapy believe that the deep skin pressure and stimulation can contribute to good blood flow. If the blood flows properly throughout the body, it is thought to potentially prevent the swelling of internal body tissues by ensuring they are exposed to as much oxygen as possible. Receiving enough oxygen can help repair damaged tissues and tighten the skin and prevent loose or sagging skin.
In addition to being used for cosmetic purposes to smooth the texture of the skin, pressotherapy can also be used as an option for certain medical conditions. People with medical conditions that cause poor circulation, such as hypertension or diabetes, may have the therapy to promote better blood flow. Good blood flow can help relieve numbness or pain in the extremities and prevent skin discoloration from lack of blood flow.

Critics of Pressotherapy believe that the treatment is unnecessary and expensive. The main problems that the therapy claims to solve, cellulite and poor circulation, can often be treated with other, more affordable options.

Performing light physical activity, such as walking or swimming, can help reduce body fat and reduce the appearance of bumpy areas of the skin's surface. Exercise can also improve poor circulation by constantly pumping blood throughout the body. Dietary changes, such as reducing sodium, can also prevent the body from retaining excess water and promote blood flow and tight skin.

Results may vary from person to person, as can overall satisfaction.

Patients with the following conditions should not undergo pressotherapy:

  • Acute inflammation (caused by bacteria, viruses, poisons, or allergens);
  • Thrombosis and phlebitis;
  • major heart problems;
  • Osteosynthesis or joint replacement in lymphatic pathways;
  • Pregnancy;
  • Epilepsy;
  • inflammation;
  • Tuberculosis;
  • Cancer;
  • renal insufficiency;
  • heart failure;

What are the recommendations before and after treatment to ensure the best possible results?

  • Wear comfortable, easily accessible clothing (such as a bathing suit) for treatment access and for easy electrode placement.
  • No makeup, creams/lotions on the skin; no jewelry or other metal embellishments. The skin must be clean and dry.
  • Drink more fluids (8 glasses of water) 1-3 days before, the day of and the day after the treatment (for body shaping).
  • Mild exercise (e.g. walking or light jogging, etc.) is beneficial the same day after treatment (for body shaping).

How many sessions do I need?

Depending on what is being treated and what condition the body is in, sessions can range from 30 to 50 minutes. You should do an average of 2-3 sessions per week for 1.5 to 2 months.

What can I expect after the session?

Pressotherapy is a very relaxing experience. Immediately after the treatment, your legs should feel extremely light and relaxed. You may also experience an increased urge to urinate due to the mobilization of water.

Therapy:

There are several options for treating lymphedema. In Practice 22 a treatment plan is drawn up, in which the various treatments are well coordinated.
With the 3-D pressotherapy, pressure is applied using a pump with an air-filled, multi-chamber pack; jacket, pants and arms, to move fluid from an area of edema.
The pressure in the partially overlapping chambered suit - only allows fluid to move from the tissue spaces to the torso. The pressure does not affect the lymphatic system itself. This treatment is usually applied once or twice a week.
Good results are achieved in combination with Ultrasound and the vacuum treatment.

A related condition is lip edema, an inherited fat distribution disorder that occurs almost exclusively in women. Not only is there an unevenly distributed fat accumulation in the legs, or on the hips, it is also accompanied by pain, bruising, fatigue and usually obesity. The treatment of lymphedema and lipedema is largely similar because the accumulated fat cells in lipedema slow down the lymphatic system.
